Spooky Snack Platter

Snack Platters are one of my favorite ways to get the kids to get more vegetables. Some days, I just simply give them a veggie platter while I am making dinner. Since they are usually hungry by this time, this helps fill them up on their vegetables then they have the rest of their dinner at the table. They think it is a fun snack, but really they are getting a great serving of veggies before dinner, it is a win win.
Other times, I like to mix it up. I will do a whole post about the different types of snack platters I do for them, but today I want to share a fun one for Halloween this week.
It was so simple and the kids thought it was great! I will start with the most time consuming snack on there, but these really only took about 10 minutes to put together.
Skeleton Snack

For the base of these, I used BoBo Bites (for this I used the Chocolate Chip ones, but any flavor would be great) and just stuck a toothpick in middle of them as the "spine." For the "skeleton bones," I used Snyders Gluten Free Pretzels covered in melted Simply Delicious Nestle Toll House White Morsels. When I found these, I was so excited! I have not been able to find a white chocolate that was free from the Top 8 Allergens until now!
First, cover a baking sheet with parchment paper. Next, melt about a cup of the white morsels in the microwave at 20 second intervals and stirring in-between until completely melted. Lastly, dip the pretzels in the melted chocolate and lay on your parchment paper baking sheet. Place in fridge for about 2 hours or until the chocolate has hardened.
Once the chocolate has hardened, I just stacked 4 of the white chocolate covered pretzels on the toothpicks that are already in the Bobo Bites. For the final touch, add a silly skeleton face to your marshmallows and stick them on top. Ava helped me with this part, we used this food marker to draw the faces.
Banana Ghosts

These adorable little ghosts are super easy to make. Cut a banana in half then cut those two halves lengthwise in half again. Stick mini chocolate chips into the bananas as the eyes and mouth. I used Enjoy Life Semi-Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips.
Veggie Jack-o'-lantern

This last part wasn't perfect, but the kids loved it and that is honestly what mattered most to me. It doesn't always have to be perfect or Pinterest worthy, just has long as it brings a smile to their faces. For this, I just used baby carrots, cucumber and sliced olives. I gave them a side of hummus for dipping ;).

That was it! They loved it! Of course they went straight for the skeletons, but eventually they worked their way around the platter and almost everything was gone by the end! Do you make snack platters for your kids? What are you go-to snacks for them?
